Do you immediately think of festivals or large-scale shows when you hear “events”? You’re not alone. But there is another side to the events industry—less visible, yet just as interesting.
At Congress by design, we organise international congresses where science and practice come together. This is where ideas are shared that contribute to progress in healthcare, science, and society. Congress by design is part of GMI Collective, which also includes the event agency Obsession. Your internship will take place within our congress agency, but you will be working in an environment where different disciplines come together.

Why this internship is different
Congresses are not one-day events. They are prepared months (sometimes years) in advance and bring together people from all over the world. This means you will work on longer-term projects rather than one-off events, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, and see how content, organisation, and logistics come together.
That is exactly what makes this an internship where you will learn a lot and truly be part of the profession.
What will you be doing?
As an intern, you will be fully involved in our project team and support the planning and delivery of international congresses across Europe (up to 3,000 participants). This is not a shadowing internship, but a hands-on role where you actively contribute to the organisation of international congresses.
You will support the project teams with, among other things:
- Participant registration and communication
- Abstract management and contact with the scientific committee
- Speaker coordination
- Setting up and sending newsletters
- Maintaining and updating congress websites
- Supporting all logistical preparations
You will have the opportunity to take on tasks independently and develop your own responsibilities, while learning how all elements come together in a congress.
